"Strategic" lawsuit seeks marriage equality in Nevada

The Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund said it has taken a "strategic step" by filing a federal lawsuit seeking marriage rights for a Nevada lesbian couple who have been together for 40 years. Nevada forbids marriage for same-sex couples, but allows them to register as domestic partners -- a distinction Lambda staff attorney Tara Borelli says highlights the fact that gays and lesbians in the state do not enjoy equal protection under the law.
