Representatives from Log Cabin Republicans have been credentialed to attend discussions
about the Republican Party platform at the party convention in Tampa later this month, and the
group says it's aiming to change the tone of the document.
"Log Cabin has gone through and
we’ve noted [2008] language in there that’s either directly unhelpful, or seen as anti-gay, and
have marked it for deletion," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin’s executive director. Meanwhile,
retired Navy Capt. Joan Darrah, an out lesbian, has written to Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell to
ask to address a convention committee about the impact of the Defense of Marriage Act on gay
and lesbian troops.
