Small
press Seventh Window Publications is making an effort to place LGBT-themed
love stories, mysteries and thrillers on the same shelves as straight fiction.
"Having gay sections in bookstores gives the impression that
our books aren't as good, when they can be as good and sometimes even
better. We need to let people know that our stories are worthy of being
told, that our stories have a right to be read by all, not just the LGBT
community. We are deserving. We are worthy. And we need to let people
know that," says founder Ken Harrison.

Sorry, but I disagree. I understand Ken's sentiment and follow him and his company closely, but this is simply marketing. When I go into a bookstore I look for the specific sections I want. I don't particularly care to be wandering through a bunch of hetero romance novels when I'm not looking for one. I enjoy the fact that there are LGBT sections, or subsections within main genre areas.
On the flip side, if the store is regulating all LGBTQ to the back (small) corner, then I have an issue with that and can completely agree with his sentiment.
