A Poem to Welcome You Home for the Holidays

‘Twas the Week Before Christmas

‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through Lone Tree
Not a creature was sleeping, especially not me!
The costumes were hung in the dressing rooms with care
In hopes that Mary Louise would soon be there.

The patrons were nestled all snug in their seats
While Broncos Stampede threw down some hard beats.
The Jerseys in elf ears and kids wearing smiles
Had just settled down to be entertained for a while!

When up on the stage there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But BreakEFX dancing like toys full of cheer!

With little ol’ blue eyes, so eager to croon
I knew in a moment it was Frank’s “To the Moon”.
Cuter than dollies, ATA kids, they came
He clapped and shouted and called them by name!

Here’s Emily and Hannah, Miriam and Mia!
Here’s Jensen and Meaghan, Lucy and Olivia!
To the high notes and back! Project through the hall!
Now sing away, sing away, sing away all!

As snowflakes that swirl in the winter night sky,
The dancers were lifted so high they could fly!
The ice skaters whirled so fast that they flew
As Sheryl Renee’s clear voice rang through.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard from the stage
Mrs. Claus turning a big scrapbook page.
As she told us all her stories of old
I saw Christmases in each decade unfold.

They were all dressed in costumes from Laurie and Rae
With sparkles and sequins so they would not fray.
The Jumping Eagles did flips and twirls
They jumped rope so fast, the boys and the girls.

The lights- how they sparkled! The snowflakes so merry!
A big bow was onstage – red like a cherry!
The giant tree was decorated to the nines
While dancers formed their own kick line.

“Joy to the World” rang out by the cast
As the audience knew this would be the last.
Mrs. Claus saw her husband, the man of the hour
As Santa entered the stage, there was magical power!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
I had seen him before, at the Parade of Lights
That same Santa had been there that night!

He sang not a song, but went straight to his work,
Passing out ornaments, a Lone Tree quirk.
Out in the lobby, we met the dear man
As Park Meadows put a gift in my hand.

As we left the Center, I was happy with glee
Home for the Holidays was all I thought it would be!
Time with my family and a good show too
Merry Christmas, Lone Tree, from all of us to you!
