Human Rights Campaign Out for Equality Inaugural Celebration for Barack Obama and Joe Biden

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, recently announced Out for Equality, the LGBT inaugural celebration for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. Out for Equality follows the historic reelection of the most LGBT-friendly president in U.S. history, Barack Obama and electoral wins for marriage equality across the country. The celebration builds on the tradition begun in 1993, when the LGBT community celebrated the inauguration of President Bill Clinton. Many national LGBT organizations, including the Family Equality Council, the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund, OutServe-SLDN, and the Bohnett Foundation are joining HRC for this historic celebration.

The celebration will be emceed by Ross Mathews from Chelsea Lately, E! Network and The Tonight Show, and will include musical performances by music legend and co-founder of the True Colors Fund, Cyndi Lauper, five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, Tony nominated actor from Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Hair, Will Swenson, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC. Additional event details will be made public as the date nears.

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the event held at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington D.C.
