Fla. lesbian couple obtain joint parenting rights

A county judge in Florida ruled Wednesday that both partners of a lesbian couple are entitled to parenting rights over a 7-week old infant. Lisa Maxwell and Christine Stephens-Maxwell, who married in New York in 2012, had sought joint recognition as parents after the latter became pregnant via in vitro fertilization.
