A Poet's Proclamation
Spoken word artist Andrea Gibsons poem 'Your Life' is a proclamation of taking ownership of ones own queerness as a badge of honor rather than shame. And its making waves with the non-binary poets social media audience with individuals posting glowing praise like thank you for expanding my world, that the poem takes my breath away, and the just plainly stated your work is so important.
In a performance for OUT taped at Brooklyn queer nightlife staple The Dreamhouse, Andrea uses their award-winning talents to prove that sometimes all you need to move people is a precise way with words and the heartfelt courage & conviction to share your vulnerable sides.
Andrea's upcoming album HEY GALAXY is out January 12th. Propelled to the forefront of the national poetry scene in 2008 after winning the first-ever Woman of the World Poetry Slam, Gibson is the author to three collections of poetry, five previous albums, and is currently working on an illustrated collection of their most memorable quotes for Penguin/Plume due in 2018.
