Transgender Day of Visibility - Black Excellence Tour

CeCe McDonald and Joshua Allen - both transgender rights and prison abolition activists of color - will visit Auraria campus as part of their #BlackExcellence tour on March 28 to lead a dialogue about trans people of color identity, visibility politics, and the violence against trans communities.

CeCe McDonald gained national attention when she was sentenced to 41 months in prison for defending herself in a racist and transphobic attack in Minneapolis in 2011. CeCe has co-founded the #BlackExcellenceTour with Joshua Allen as a social justice project that combats violence against trans, gender non-conforming and queer people of color. By utilizing art, activism, and storytelling, CeCe and Josh bring attention to issues affecting our communities and spark discussions about justice, freedom and equality for those living at the intersections of marginal identities.
