PFAW Statement on Duncan Confirmation: “Manifestly Unfit for a Lifetime Seat on the Federal Bench”

In response to the Senate vote to confirm Kyle Duncan to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement:

“Today’s vote to confirm Kyle Duncan is profoundly disappointing for anyone who cares about the principle of equal rights for all people. Kyle Duncan spent his entire career amassing a record making it perfectly clear that as a judge he can’t be trusted to protect the rights of immigrants, women, voters and LGBTQ people. At every turn, he’s used the law to push an extreme partisan agenda, and he’s given absolutely no indication that he’ll do anything differently as a federal judge. Kyle Duncan is manifestly unfit for a lifetime seat on the federal bench. Voters should remember this vote—and other votes that are endangering our rights—when they go to the polls to choose their senators on Election Day.”
