Did you know that in 2015, 88% of students in Colorado reported hearing
anti-LGBTQ remarks from peers and school staff on a regular basis? In

Colorado schools. Despite these realities, there are a number of actions
that communities can take to improve the safety and inclusion of LGBTQ
students in their schools.
April is when lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students and allies observe the Day of Silence to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people at school. Here in Colorado, we have comprehensive policies and protections in place for LGBTQ students.
