John Denver - The Tribute

Before his death in 1997, Colorado’s favorite transplant, John Denver, was one of the top recording artists in history, selling more than 60 million albums.

John Denver first performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 21, 1972 – four months before 'Rocky Mountain High' blew onto the charts. Throughout the years he gave 16 more concerts at Red Rocks, the last show being in the summer of 1989.

This coming summer, 20 years later, the songs of John Denver will rise again at Red Rocks Amphitheatre through the music, spirit and talent of singer/songwriter Roy Rivers and his band as they perform John Denver - The Tribute.

Ani DiFranco in Denver

Ani DiFranco has established herself as one of the most influential and inspirational artists of her generation. Now, touring in support of her new studio album, Red Letter Year (September 30th / Righteous Babe Records), KBAC FM welcomes Ani DiFranco's returns to Denver for an electrifying performance at the Paramount Theatre on Saturday, September 27th.

DiFranco wears many hats including singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer. Her empowering spirit is evident through her songs that tackle barbed political and sexual issues with uncommon insight and compassion. Ani's new studio album, Red Letter Year, celebrates existence, profess love and condemn religious fundamentalism with an infectious sense of glee. It's one of Ani's most joyous records to date. Red Letter Year takes more advantage of this freedom than ever before. Conceived, sculpted and refined over the course of two years - a lifetime compared to a typical Ani recording session - the album is an impeccably crafted, multi-layered sonic achievement.

In the clip below, Ani performs 'Hypnotized' on 'The Henry Rollins Show':

He'll be in town to promote his CBS Records debut, "Can You Hear Me," which came out June 10. Be sure to check it out. The Walnut Room is a magical little spot. Every time I've been there to see a show, it's been amazing. Every single time!

Here's a clip of Simons on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson:

Cyndi Lauper and Rufus Wainwright to join Melissa Etheridge in Denver for 'Rock to Win'

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender civil rights organization, announced today that musicians Cyndi Lauper and Rufus Wainwright have been added to the line-up of an event called “Rock to Win” in Denver, Colorado, during the Democratic National Convention. They will join previously-announced performer, Oscar and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Melissa Etheridge, on stage.

“I am thrilled that Cyndi Lauper and Rufus Wainwright will join HRC in celebrating equality at Rock to Win,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “In 2004, GLBT issues were used by the right wing in an attempt to distract and manipulate voters. ‘Rock to Win’ is a celebration of the progress our community has made in the intervening four years, and a grand kickoff to hard work ahead in the general to elect a new president of our nation.”

This summer, Lauper hit the road for the second annual True Colors Tour in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign. This year’s tour emphasized the importance of voting and participating in 2008’s historic elections. The concept of the tour was conceived by Lauper stemming from her desire to give back to the GLBT community for the love and support they have given her throughout her career. Wainwright, who is openly gay, previously performed at HRC’s landmark concert series and tour, “Equality Rocks.”

“Rock to Win” will be held at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver—a venue modeled on the historic San Francisco Fillmore rock club—on Tuesday, August 26, the second night of the Democratic National Convention, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster. To purchase tickets, visit www.ticketmaster.com.
