Colorado Springs mayoral candidate supports LGBT rights

Colorado Springs, Colo., City Councilman Richard Skorman (pictured) surprised his fellow contenders for mayor by bringing up his support of LGBT rights during a mayoral debate. 

"I think we have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot," Skorman said, speaking about the city's reputation for intolerance. Skorman wants the city to pass an ordinance providing for same-sex partner benefits.
