Beating of South Carolina gay man prompts call for hate crimes law

A South Carolina gay man, whose beating a couple of weeks ago was caught on a convenience store video surveillance tape, has been interviewed by FBI agents who want to determine if he was the victim of a hate crime under federal law. The incident has state lawmakers and a statewide LGBT group calling for the passage of a state hate crimes law, but Gov. Nikki Haley said she does not support the effort.

The video of the beating can be seen below but be warned, it's violent and disturbing.
