Calif. bans “ex-gay” therapy for kids

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation this weekend outlawing a controversial therapy that aims to convert the sexual orientation of minors from gay to straight

“These practices have no basis in science or medicine and they will now be relegated to the dustbin of quackery,” Brown said in statement, adding that the practice has driven some young people to depression and suicide. Conservative legal groups say they plan to challenge the new law in court.
