All National Guard units in compliance with Pentagon order on same-sex benefits

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced last week that every state's National Guard unit is now in compliance with an order from the Pentagon to extend benefits to all service members' spouses. 

"All military spouses and families sacrifice on behalf of our country," Hagel said in the statement. "They deserve our respect and the benefits they are entitled to under the law." Nine states had initially refused to comply with the directive, citing state laws that ban marriage equality.
