Neb. county officials approve extending benefits to same-sex couples

Officials in Douglas County, Neb., voted in favor of a measure Tuesday that would extend benefits to spouses of same-sex employees legally married in other states. The county will begin processing the claims Jan. 1.

"I think it's the right thing to do," said county board member Mike Boyle. "I think it's the legal thing to do."
