Josh & Steve #GotYourBack

Today, we witness history as the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments in marriage equality cases, and GLAAD is on the ground with the Unite for Marriage Coalition, bringing the stories of loving couples to living rooms across the country.

That includes Josh and Steve.

Major Steve Snyder-Hill, at the time serving our country in uniform in the Middle East, made news in 2011 when he submitted a video asking candidates during a Republican presidential debate if they would undo the progress of repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" should they get elected. You may remember, he was booed by the audience.

But Major Snyder-Hill was not deterred.

Soon after, he and his husband Josh became part of an historic lawsuit, McLaughlin v. Panetta, brought on behalf of same-sex military couples who were being denied equal support by the services. They won that battle, but even today, the couple's marriage is still not recognized in their home state of Ohio.

That's why today is so important.

One of the many ways you can stand with Josh and Steve – and all loving and committed couples – is by signing GLAAD's #GotYourBack pledge and voicing your support for acceptance on Facebook and Twitter using hashtag #GotYourBack. Let's use our voices to send a strong message that love is louder than hate.
