Her Story

HER STORY is an independently produced web series about trans and queer women. It had no major budget and no major backing but what it did have was the blood, sweat and tears of industry women to turn around a quality series. Produced and made by mostly trans and queer women, HER STORY premiered late last year to critical acclaim and enthusiasm from the LGBTQ and mainstream communities. 

As Oscars took a lot of heat this year for their lack of diversity, the Television Academy has not only recognized the importance of welcoming digital into the fold, but has also embraced a web series about a sub-culture group that up until a year ago, was largely ignored and misunderstood. For a groundbreaking category, they are recognizing a groundbreaking series that hopefully will set the tone for future web series that anything is possible.
