Call for Submissions: The Denver Woman's Press Club Unknown Writer's Contest

Do you know any wonderful (but unpublished) writers ready to take the important step of entering a contest? The Unknown Writers’ Contest, sponsored by the Denver Woman’s Press Club, awards cash prizes to winners and provides constructive comments to all entrants in three categories: nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.

All submissions will be accepted online beginning January 1, 2017. The contest is open to Colorado residents, women and men, age 18 and over, whose work has never appeared with a paid byline. The submission deadline is February 22, and all entrants will be invited to a reception honoring the contest winners at the DPWC’s historic clubhouse on April 9, 2017.

Cash prizes will be awarded in each category: 1st place $125, 2nd place $75 and 3rd place $50. Entrants may submit one entry in each category with a 2,000-word limit for fiction and nonfiction and a 40-line limit for poetry. Entry fees are $25 for fiction and nonfiction and $15 for poetry.
