Give OUT Day postponed to June 30

By Nikole Pagan, Give OUT Day Program Manager

It is with a heavy heart, but also input from the Give OUT Day community, that we have decided to postpone Give OUT Day to June 30, with early giving opening on June 1.

Thank you to the hundreds of organizations’ representatives who responded to our survey last week asking whether we should postpone Give OUT Day. The overwhelming majority preferred that we postpone.

Given this response, in conjunction with other factors related to COVID-19, we had to make the decision to postpone Give OUT Day to Pride Month. With many Pride celebrations across the country at risk of cancellation, Give OUT Day can serve as an important way for us to be in community supporting our critical LGBTQ organizations during Pride Month.

Although Give OUT Day is postponed, we recognize that there is an urgent need for funds now, not later. That’s why we will be communicating the new date to all past Give OUT Day donors and encouraging them to make an additional gift now to organizations on the Give OUT Day platform.

We want to remind you that you can accept donations on the Give OUT Day platform all year round, so you can use the platform now for your immediate fundraising needs. You are welcome to update your page to reflect your needs during this pandemic. (Donations between June 1 and June 30 will count toward the Leaderboard prizes.) If you have not registered yet for Give OUT Day, you can still do so here.

As a next step, we encourage you to communicate the new date to your networks as soon as possible. You can use this template email to do so. Updated resources are also in the works.

We are confident that this decision is the right one for our collective success and the Give OUT Day community. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. As this is a fluid situation, we will make sure to keep you updated.
