Free and confidential HIV testing at Colorado AIDS Project

Colorado AIDS Project encourages all individuals to know their HIV status and offers free and confidential testing for youth and adults.

Testing is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment. Walk-ins can come every Thursday from 3-7 p.m. Testing is located at Colorado AIDS Project's offices at 2490 W. 26th Ave., Building A, Suite 300 in Denver and is available to anyone 13 years and older.

To ensure availability for testing, make an appointment with Athena Lansing at 303 837-0166 ext. 464 or email her at athenal@coloradoaidsproject.org.

Confidential testing is done with the OraQuick ADVANCE Rapid HIV Test and results are ready after 20 minutes.

CAP recognizes that testing may be difficult and scary so they strive to create the most comfortable and supportive environment possible. CAP pledges its support to those who learn they are HIV-positive and will serve as a bridge between testing positive and connecting with more comprehensive CAP client services.

HIV/AIDS is everybody's issue

Okay, I wish I could rise above this story about some HIV-positive straight guy who insisted on unprotected sex with his girlfriend, but I can't, because we have our share of unprotected sex in the gay community as well.

But what I will say is that it happens all over ... to everyone ... of all sexual orientations and I, for one, am sick of the gay community taking hits from those who want to blame us for the spread of HIV and AIDS when it's obvious that straight people are more than happy to pitch in and lend a hand.

Get tested

This is why you should get tested--and once every few years doesn't cut it. Plenty of places in Colorado offer free AIDS testing. Colorado AIDS Project has a list of metro-area sites. Find one near you and be as diligent about your testing as you are about hooking up.

Students exposed to HIV?

Fifty teenagers in one St. Louis high school exposed to HIV all at once?

How does this happen?

I hope the school has the facts on HIV transmission and isn't panicking needlessly over a cafeteria employee or janitor testing positive for HIV and creating chaos over nothing.

If you don't have the facts about HIV or know how it is transmitted, find out from Colorado AIDS Project .

Magic Johnson faking AIDS?

This is old but it's so outrageous that it's still worth posting.

Did you hear about the radio hosts who accused Magic Johnson of faking AIDS?

How do you fake AIDS?

Why would you fake AIDS?

If it was supposed to be a joke, it's just not funny.

Maybe these dolts should talk to some of the hard-working case managers at the Colorado AIDS Project who work with people living with AIDS on a daily basis. Or maybe they should check out some of the volunteers at Project Angel Heart who deliver meals to the many people in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas who are living with AIDS. Or maybe they should just keep their mouths shut.
