CHER's disco classic "Take Me Home" gets a classic “M+M” MIX

Iconic and legendary performer Cher has released a remixed edition of her 1979 smash “Take Me Home” as a three-track digital EP, featuring a full extended mix, a radio edit and an instrumental version. Remixed by acclaimed producer John “M+M” Morales, this new reinvention of the disco classic is available now via Republic/UMe here: https://cher.lnk.to/TMHClassicMix.

The excitement surrounding “Take Me Home” was recently reinvigorated with the “Challenge Accepted” commercial, featuring Cher and current GRAMMY® nominee Saweetie for MAC Cosmetics, which had a musical bed using Morales’s recent remix.

Described as “one of the best producers and arrangers of disco music,” dance music legend Morales has logged over 800 remixes, including smash hits by the Temptations, Tina Turner, Jocelyn Brown, DeBarge, Rick James, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, among many others. More recently, Morales, after a decade-long hiatus, has been remixing more classics by Barry White, Teena Marie, Marvin Gaye, et al.

Cher’s first foray into disco, “Take Me Home” was a top ten pop hit on Casablanca Records in 1979 and was certified Gold that same year. Written by Michele Aller and the song’s producer, Bob Esty, it was the title track of her fifteenth solo album and marked a departure from the rock-inflected pop of her earlier material. Peaking at #8 on the Billboard Top 100 and #2 on the US Dance Club Songs, the track was a top twenty hit in Canada (#10) and Spain (#13). Billboard noted its “upbeat, cleanly produced sound with a light, easy melody. It's sure to catch the ears of the disco set.”

With over 100 million records sold worldwide in a career that spans six-plus decades, Cher remains one of the world’s best-selling artists, scoring among other extraordinary accomplishments 16 global No. 1 solo hit singles, including "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves,” “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Believe.”

Embed

Ali (Christina Aguilera) is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner. Burlesque’s outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingenue, who vows to perform there one day.

Soon enough, Ali builds a friendship with a featured dancer (Julianne Hough), finds an enemy in a troubled, jealous performer (Kristen Bell), and garners the affection of Jack (Cam Gigandet), a bartender and fellow musician. With the help of a sharp-witted stage manager (Stanley Tucci) and gender-bending host (Alan Cumming), Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage. Her spectacular voice restores The Burlesque Lounge to its former glory, though not before a charismatic entrepreneur (Eric Dane) arrives with an enticing proposal…

Chastity Bono is now Chaz Bono

TMZ is reporting that Chastity Bono is transitioning and will now be known as Chaz Bono.

"Yes, it's true -- Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," confirmed Bono's publicist, Howard Bragman.

GLAAD issued the following statement regarding the news:

“Chaz Bono's decision to live his life authentically represents an important step forward, both for him personally and for all who are committed to advancing discussions about fairness and equality for transgender people," said Neil G. Giuliano, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). "Coming out as transgender is an extremely personal decision and one that is never made lightly. We look forward to hearing Chaz's story in his own words in the future."

I wonder if Cher is gonna be pissed? She didn't take the lesbian thing too well at the time, remember? She said in her autobiography:

"My response to Chastity being Gay was very un-Cher like. I didn't know what to do and who to turn to, I was devastated! The funny thing is I knew all along that she was gay, I just didn't want to admit it."
