IMAX with the GLS

Join the Gay and Lesbian Sierrans' Galen for a midweek night out tonight to see the newest IMAX film, 'Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk'. Shana Watahomigie, a Havasui Indian guide, leads an expedition down the Colorado River while he, Robert Kennedy Jr. and author Wade Davis talk about the canyon, the river and the nature and importance of water. The movie is at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on Colorado Blvd. It starts at five and will last about forty minutes, so there will be plenty of time for dinner at a local restaurant afterward for anyone who is interested. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased here.

Batman: The Dark Knight - it totally rocks

Hey, true believers - just got back from the advance screening of Batman: The Dark Knight and it was awesome! It had everything you want in a summer blockbuster and a Batman movie; nonstop action, hideous super-villains (Two-Face is one of the most amazing looking movie villains of all time), and Christian Bale. Throw in amazing rooftop cinematography and an Imax screen and you just can't go wrong. Easily the best Batman movie ever made even if I missed the last 20 minutes because the projector broke down. Still clocking in at about two and a half hours, it was still a heckuva lot of movie and now I've just got a really good excuse to go see it again.

Plus, as an extra, added bonus (yes, those three words all mean the same thing), I got to sit next to local legend Reggie McDaniel. Sporting a maroon three-piece suit (I myself was wearing a cobalt blue velvet cape with silver trim - seriously), Reggie was a treasure and a delight. A real character, Reggie kept everybody entertained while we waited to hear if the projector could be fixed or not.

Check out his show on KOA 850AM.

Ooh, plus - there was a guy who showed up dressed as Batman. He wasn't employed by the theater or anything, he was just a regular guy. And it wasn't a crappy Batman costume, it was an awesome one like the one in the picture at left. The seating was very limited and at first he wasn't going to be able to get in but then they let him in. He was a sexy fella, too. I would have done the Batusi with him.
