Save the Date for Colorado LGBT Lobby Day

Dave Montez of One Colorado reminds us that the 2015 legislative session is right around the corner and there will probably be several bills introduced that will impact Colorado's gay community. LGBT Lobby Day is our opportunity to make sure our elected representatives hear from the LGBT community.

One Colorado even provides food and training for the event so sign up and make your voice heard

LGBT Lobby Day 2013

From Brad Clark, Executive Director of One Colorado:

We need LGBT Lobby Day to be bigger than ever this year. Can we count on you to join us?

Just last week, Senators Pat Steadman and Lucia Guzman introduced the Colorado Civil Union Act (SB-11).  The bill has incredible support, but our legislators are hearing from our opponents every day.  They're hearing lies and scare tactics.  They're getting calls, e-mails, and visits meant to keep civil unions from becoming law.

Our legislators need to hear from us at LGBT Lobby Day.  Join us -- RSVP now!

On the same day that civil unions was introduced, Representative Kevin Priola introduced legislation that would allow anyone with a religious conviction to deny employment, housing, or services to LGBT people.  It's a far-reaching bill that would allow people to pick and choose which laws they want to follow.

I don't know about you, but I believe that no one should be above the law.  I want to make sure our legislators know about the dangers of Rep. Priola's proposed legislation.  That's why I need you to join us at LGBT Lobby Day.

LGBT Lobby Day is our chance to ask our legislators for a YES on civil unions and a NO on Rep. Priola's dangerous bill. Make sure your voice is heard -- join us!

If we remain steadfast and vigilant, I believe 2013 will be a historic year for LGBT Coloradans.  I believe we can fight back against attempts to roll back protections for our community.  I believe we can pass civil unions and the other bills we're advocating for this legislative session: access to affordable education for undocumented students, workplace protections that allow people to earn a living free from discrimination, and expansion of Medicaid to ensure that everyone has healthcare.

Will you join us at LGBT Lobby Day and help make 2013 a historic year for our community?

I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together this year.  And I'm so thankful you're a part of it.
