Logo 'Goes Dark' in support of National Equality March 2009

The weekend of October 10th and 11th 2009 will see thousands of fair-minded Americans congregating in our nation’s capital for Equality Across America’s “National Equality March 2009.” The March serves as a call to action for a new generation of activists, gay and straight, to join the movement for LGBT equality. The event’s goal is to reinvigorate the LGBT movement on a national level so participants can take their experiences home to their communities across America and convey the urgency behind their quest for demanding equal rights.

Logo is joining the cause by “going dark” from 11 a.m. ET to 3 p.m. ET (the hours concurrent to the Equality March) to emphasize the significance of the gathering. This is the first time in Logo’s four-year history that the 24/7 channel will not broadcast programming. Instead, a graphic message will urge viewers to visit the Logo website 365gay.com for information on the March and how they can get involved on a local level. For those unable to attend the rally in person, live coverage from D.C. via Twitter updates will be streamed on 365gay.com during the March, rally, and all weekend long. 365gay.com has served as an official outlet of information for the National Equality March since it was announced last June.

“The National Equality March resonates strongly with Logo's gay and straight audience because we all expect equality in all aspects of our lives,” said Lisa Sherman, Executive Vice President & General Manager, Logo. “Our unprecedented action of ‘going dark’ underscores the significance of the event and what Equality Across America is hoping to achieve. Supporting the March reaffirms Logo’s ongoing commitment to the campaign for equality for everyone.”

Logo goes dark in honor of National Equality March 2009

The weekend of October 10th and 11th 2009 will see thousands of fair-minded Americans congregating in our nation’s capital for Equality Across America’s “National Equality March 2009.” The March serves as a call to action for a new generation of activists, gay and straight, to join the movement for LGBT equality. The event’s goal is to reinvigorate the LGBT movement on a national level so participants can take their experiences home to their communities across America and convey the urgency behind their quest for demanding equal rights. Logo, a division of Viacom Inc.’s (NYSE: VIA and VIA.B) MTV Networks, announced today that it will support the March by participating in a number of events surrounding the weekend.

Most notably, Logo is joining the cause by “going dark” from 11:00AM ET to 3:00PM ET (the hours concurrent to the March) to emphasize the significance of the gathering.

Supporting the March reaffirms Logo’s ongoing commitment to the campaign for equality for everyone.”

Additionally, Logo will take part in this historic occasion by broadcasting two days of inspirational programming that look at some of the LGBT communities greatest activists (Bayard Rustin, Allen Ginsberg), some of their most inspiring activism stories (“Equality U,” “Rock the Boat,” “Coming Out Stories”), and some of their most pressing community issues (“Tying The Knot,” “The Ride: Seven Days To End AIDS”).

The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price

Look out design divas! It’s time for the next decorating and design superstar to shine on Logo’s newly acquired series “The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price.” The Canadian-born contestant of HGTV’s 2006 Designer Superstar Challenge, Ambrose Price, will repair, restore and re-upholster his way to the top in this 13 half-hour episode docu-reality series in attempt to accomplish his decorating and designing dreams.

Ambrose Price is a spirited, quirky designer who leaves his small town of Fortune, Newfoundland for the big city to learn from some of the biggest and best in the design world. Despite his current profession as a working interior designer, Ambrose quickly learns that there is more to the decorating world than his career. Before he can turn drab-to-fab and tap into the multi-million dollar design industry, Ambrose has to learn the hard way what it is that makes great designers and some unspoken rules of the business. Whether the task be decorating a wedding cake to creating a Fifth Avenue-worthy window display or sculpting the perfect floral arrangement, Ambrose tests his comfort zones leading to often mixed (and humorous) results. With glue gun and paintbrush in his tool belt, Ambrose Price is out to prove he is here to stay. No matter what the decorating challenge Ambrose never fails to amuse the audience, clients and himself along the way!

“The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price” premieres with two back-to-back episodes Monday, October 5 and LOGOonline.com.

Shakespeare comes to Logo

Logo takes on The Bard with a new interpretation of the classic Shakespeare comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with film festival favorite and award-winning film “Were the World Mine.” One of the most buzz-worthy gay films in years, this playful movie musical will premiere Monday, September 7 on Logo and on LOGOonline.com.

“Were the World Mine” tells the story of Timothy: a bullied gay student at an all-boy private high school struggling to fit in with his peers while helping his mother accept his sexuality. Things seem all the makings of a Shakespearian tragedy for Timothy until the school play is announced by his mystical, bohemian English teacher, Ms. Tebbit (Wendy Robie, Twin Peaks). Timothy is cast as “Puck” in the school’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” allowing him to get closer to his crush Jonathan, a straight jock, who is cast as one of the play’s lead roles.

As an escape from the cruel realities of high school, Timothy transcends into a world of song and spectacle. However, Timothy’s life crosses the boundaries of reality and fantasy when he follows a “Cupid’s love” potion in his script and quickly discovers that anyone sprayed by this mystical potion falls in love with the first person of the same sex they see. Before long, the streets in Timothy’s homophobic town are inundated with lovelorn gay and lesbian couples, creating mayhem amongst his friends, family and neighbors. Both the town and Timothy learn a lesson in tolerance and ultimate acceptance as Timothy tries to repair the mischief he unleashed.

Cam with Margaret Cho today

Margaret is going to be announcing the Fan Club Pre-Sales and taking your questions about her tour and new TV show LIVE today on her website, MargaretCho.com, at 2:30 p.m. Should be a hoot. You can ask her questions or just say howdy.

Margaret Cho is one of my favorite comedians. I've interviewed her numerous times over the years and something strange would occur almost every single time I spoke with her. One time she was talking to me while she was getting a massage and she dozed off in the middle of a sentence. Another time, she was walking through her house and talking to me on her cellphone and she fell down a flight of stairs and was quiet for a very long time and I thought she had died.

Her new series 'The Cho Show' premieres on VH1 this Thursday but if you can't wait, you can check out the entire first episode at LogoOnline.com.

Calling all Denver drama queens! Logo's looking for you ...

My good friends at Logo, the gay channel, need participants for some of their TV projects and from what I've seen from dealing with some of you over the past two decades or so that I've been active in the community, I have no doubt the next big gay reality star is destined to come from Denver.

Do you have an interesting coming out story to tell? Are you heading to your college reunion? Are you a gay athlete? Check out Logo's Casting Call page here and take your drama to the small screen where it belongs instead of the streets where you just look foolish.

First Comes Love

In the gay-wedding reality show 'First Comes Love', stand-up comedian Elvira Kurt and wedding planner to the gays, Fern Cohen walk gay and lesbian couples through the process of planning a dream wedding and then march them down the aisle.

With gay marriage the law of the land in California and soon to be across America (fingers crossed!), there is definitely wedding fever in the air. I know of two very fancy and elegant gay weddings here in Denver in the past week alone. Congratulations to those happy couples. It's a nice day for a gay wedding!

'First Comes Love' airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Logo or, you can rent it on Netflix and watch it whenever you like.

Check out a clip from the show here.
