Is reality TV helping viewers accept LGBT people?

Reality television programs are exposing American viewers to LGBT people in ways that scripted shows have not, which may be leading to greater acceptance

“There is something particularly striking about actual gay people being themselves on television,” said Katherine Sender, an academic who studies reality TV.

Colorado is the proud home of a number of gay reality TV stars including Project Runway's Mondo Guerra (pictured), Charlie Price and Matthew Morris of Shear Genius.

Do you have gay parents? Do you want to be on MTV?

Do you have gay parents and want to tell your story? Are you proud of what your parents have taught you and want a platform to share their lessons of diversity and acceptance? Or is it harder for you to blend in and reveal that you have two parents of the same sex? Have any of your parents unexpectedly “come out”, causing you to adapt to a whole new household? Now is the chance for kids across America to hear what you have to say! MTV is looking for vibrant and uncensored kids (appearing to be 14-21) who have been raised by gay parents. Please send photographs, videos, and a brief description of each family member to gayfamilycasting@gmail.com.

Steven Daigle continues to exxxpose himself

Former reality TV contestant Steven Daigle continues his career transformation to A-list pornstar. The teaser trailer for Steven Daigle: XXXPOSED" from director Chi Chi Larue was posted earlier this week to C1R.com (site NSFW) and has some interesting plans in the works.

NSFW quotes and links after the jump.

"If someone told me that me being on TV's 'Big Brother' would lead to a dildo being made from my penis, I would have probably laughed in their face," says STEVEN. "And I'm still laughing! How can I not? I mean, I can literally go fuck myself."

Check out the teaser for "Steven Daigle: XXXPOSED" along with a photo gallery at: http://c1r.com/products/RV1180.

Gay fella wins Dance Your Ass Off - also, Kooza is in town!

Huh, I'd seen parts of a couple of episodes of 'Dance Your Ass Off' but had no idea frontrunner and eventual winner Ruben was gay.

Lyle Masaki at AfterElton.com has the whole story.

Good for him!

For winning, and being openly gay.

Also, he's the head of wardrobe for Cirque du Soleil. Is that the most glamorous job in the world or what?

Speaking of Cirque du Soleil, their show Kooza is in Denver until September 27 and if you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you really should.

It's gorgeous.

Wanna be on 'The Real World'?

MTV is holding a casting for 'The Real World' this Saturday, March 14 at UC Boulder.

This season they are looking to cast former foster kids, physically challenged people, immigrants, overweight people, grieving people, or someone with a cause or social issue.

Interesting.

'The Real World' filmed their 18th season here in Denver (above) but I quit watching that nonsense about 10 seasons ago.

I still really like the challenges though.

Nothing wrong with drunk sexy people getting into fights and hooking up with each other.

Well, there is but you know what I mean.

Colorado chef makes 'Top Chef' final four

Wow, Colorado really is turning into quite a spawning ground for reality show contestants. This guy's not gay, but he's from Colorado and he's in the "Top Chef" semi-finals so let's cheer on Jax Fish House's Chef Hosea Rosenberg. He looks kind of doable to me. Plus, my fat ass loves a man who can cook.

I haven't had a chance to watch this season, is it any good?
