Tonight on Outsources on KGNU

Check out Outsources tonight from 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. on 88.5 FM and 1390 AM or streaming LIVE at KGNU.org. Host Norman Strizek will interview Mike Jones, co-author of I Had to Say Something. In 2006, the staunch political conservative and pastor, Ted Haggard, was ousted from his positions of authority when Jones revealed that Haggard had been having regular sexual relations with him over a three year period. Haggard headed a congregation of some 14,000 members (and was founder and head of an Evangelical organization of some 30 million members) who preached against homosexual civil and marriage rights.

Additionally, MileHighGayGuy Drew Wilson will be on to talk about some of the upcoming news and events in Denver's gay community.

BAD and Tracks to host Unity Dance '08 during DNC

Babes Around Denver (BAD) and Tracks Nightclub/EXDO Event Center will host a massive welcome party in celebration of the 2008 Democratic National Convention on Saturday, August 23. The event will be held at Tracks/EXDO Event Center, Metro Denver’s only major gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) events center. The party, aptly named “Unity Dance ’08,” is an occasion to bring together the GLBT community and supporters for an evening of music and fun.

“Unity Dance ’08 is believed to be the largest GLBT gathering on record in any host city of a DNC event,” said Dede Frain, founder of BAD and one of the party’s organizers. “It’s an opportunity to provide a welcoming social environment for all GLBT and straight allies, including delegates, media, Metro Denver residents and visitors.”

A catered welcome reception will be held from 7-9 p.m with Denver’s own DJ Trina J playing retro favorites lightly in the background. Starting at 9 p.m., celebrated DJs Manny Lehman and Lydia Prim will step up the party and spin the best dance music all evening while DJ Trina J plays retro/Top 40’s in Heaven Lounge.

Sponsors of “Unity Dance ‘08” include the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Stonewall Democrats, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, The GLBT Center of Metro Denver, Out Front Colorado Newspaper, Boulder Pride, All Terrain Lesbians Foundation, Hip Chicks Out, Cafe Vivid, Colorado Aids Project, Equal Rights Colorado, Boulder Pride, Project Angel Heart and the Matthew Shepherd Foundation.

A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the HRC Foundation’s research, educational and outreach efforts. The Human Rights Campaign is the country’s largest GLBT civil rights organization.

The Tracks/EXDO Events Center is located at 3500 Walnut St., Denver, Colo., 80205. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 before 9 p.m. (includes catered reception), $15 from 9-11 p.m. and $25 after 11 p.m.

David Corder, Fitness Phenom, sez:

Is Colorado's David Corder the next Fitness Phenom?

I met David Corder NSCA-CPT, owner and lead trainer at Perfect Fit Wellness Center in Colorado Springs, yesterday at PrideFest in Colorado Springs. David recently won the first round of Project Breakout’s “Search for the next Fitness Phenom” by a landslide.

Project Breakout, an online video voting community, is searching for the next big fitness expert. It is like the “American Idol” for fitness. David’s first DVD entitled “Perfect Posture” was entered in the competition and won the very first week’s contest with over 1700 more online votes than any other contestant. Now he is headed for the finals with an outstanding lead over his competitors.

David now is working on an all new DVD for the finals. He promises a workout program that will build strength and enable the body to lose weight. Most of all, it will be fun! The final online voting period is from September 1st through the 7th with the winner announced on the 8th of September, 2008. First prize for the competition is a contract with a major fitness production company to market his programs across the United States and Canada.

Round one of the competition was strictly an online voting period with the popular votes, comments and views counting for 100% of the victory. The finals will be a combination of online voting and a panel of judges choosing from the 30 final contestants.

To view the winning workout and vote for David, go to ProjectBreakout.com. To purchase your very own copy of David's workout DVD go to Perfect Fit Wellness Center where you can find more information about David and his programs.

Le Bakery Sensual celebrates 27th Anniversary ...

... and MileHighGayGuy is there to eat penis cupcakes and drink pomegranate margaritas. Delicious. I also got to meet Denver PrideFest's Entertainment Coordinator DeMarcio Slaughter. Delicious. He works part-time at Le Bakery Sensual and describes his job duties as 'wearing tight t-shirts'. Delicous.

Le Bakery Sensual has been offering up delightfully decadent cakes that are the highlight of any party since 1981. They also offer greeting cards, gag gifts and other naughty nibblies.

The hot guys of Colorado Springs PrideFest

Juliet Draper and MileHighGayGuy at Colorado Springs PrideFest 2008

Here I am looking fat and flabby next to one of the fittest women in the world, Juliet Draper. Draper, a firefighter in Colorado Springs, won the Combat Challenge World Title in 2003. She also won the World Police and Fire Games Powerlifting Championship in 2004 and the State Games of America Powerlifting Championship in 2005.

Draper's longtime partner is Pam Jones, a writer and filmmaker who is the sister of legendary gay icon Grace Jones.

I'm putting a copy of this pic up on the fridge as motivation! She's amazing. Do you see those abs?

Obama Leads McCain by 46 Points Among GLBT Adults

With just six weeks to go until the Democrat and Republican Presidential conventions, the general election is almost officially here. Results from a new Harris Poll show that:

In a four way race, Barack Obama leads John McCain among registered voters 44 percent to 35 percent, while Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate and Ralph Nader each receive 2 percent. Sixteen percent of registered voters are not sure who they will vote for yet.

Read the rest after the jump.

Among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) adults (though not specifically registered voters) 60% of GLBT adults favor Obama while 14% favor McCain. Three percent of GLBT adults favor Barr, while 1% choose Nader. Six percent choose “other,” while 17% of all GLBT voters are not yet sure which candidate to support – comparable to the general population.
John McCain is holding onto just slightly more of his base as just over three-quarters of Republicans (77%) say they will vote for him versus just under three-quarters of Democrats (74%) who will vote for Barack Obama; and,
Among Independents, Obama has a 12-point lead (38% to 26%), but one-quarter of Independents (25%) are not sure, 4 percent would vote for Bob Barr and 3 percent for Ralph Nader.
These are some of the results of a Harris Poll of 2,690 U.S. adults surveyed online by Harris Interactive® between July 3 and 11, 2008. Like all polls conducted well before an election, this should not be read as a prediction, but rather as a snap shot of the presidential “horse race”. Additional results include:
Half of Matures (those over 63) say they would vote for John McCain, while three in ten (29%) would vote for Senator Obama, indicating that some of McCain’s strongest support comes from this generation;
Half (51%) of the youngest generation or Echo Boomers (those aged 18-31) would vote for Barack Obama while just one-quarter (24%) would vote for Senator McCain;
Ninety percent of African Americans are voting for Senator Obama, as are six in ten Hispanics (60%). Whites, however, are leaning towards Senator McCain over Senator Obama (40% versus 34%);
Over two in five men (42%) and women (43%) say they would vote for Senator Obama, while over one-third of men (36%) and three in ten women (30%) would vote for Senator McCain. This suggests that the gender gap doesn’t really exist this year; and,
Half of single women (51%) would vote for Senator Obama while just one-quarter (25%) would vote for Senator McCain. Married women are more closely divided – 37 percent would vote for Obama and 36 percent would vote for McCain.
So What?
While Americans are thinking of summer vacations and the beach, November 4th may seem like eons away. However, in reality, the election is just 15 weeks from now. That means that everything from this point on in time definitely matters.

Regina Corso, Director of The Harris Poll, said, “Senator Obama’s lead seems solid, but there are some troubling spots to watch for in his campaign. First, Matures are solidly behind John McCain, and this is a group that goes out and votes in the strongest numbers among all age groups. Further, the divide among married women is also extremely close. With almost one-quarter of this group (22%) undecided, the candidate that can win the lion’s share of those undecided Americans can move these overall numbers.”
