Lt. Dan Choi to speak at Metro's Queer Symposium today

On March 19, 2009, Lt. Dan Choi announced that he was gay on 'The Rachel Maddow Show'. Then his life changed forever. Despite being valued for his ability to communicate with the Iraqi people, Lt. Choi was notified that the military had begun discharge proceedings against him.

On March 19, 2010 Lt. Choi chained himself to the White House fence in an attempt to repeal the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy that prevented him from serving openly.

Today, Lt. Choi will come to Metro State's Auraria campus to speak about his inspirational story as part of the campus' Queer Symposium in St. Cajetan's at 12:30pm.
