City Council Announces Vacancy on Denver County Cultural Council

Denver City Councilwoman Peggy Lehmann, Chair of the Council’s Public Amenities Committee, has announced that application forms are available for citizens interested in filling a vacancy on the Denver County Cultural Council (DCCC), a board authorized by the State to distribute Scientific & Cultural Facilities District Tier III revenues to cultural organizations.

In filling this vacancy, City Council is looking for an individual with active community involvement at the neighborhood level and professional or volunteer experience in an arts, cultural, scientific or historical organization. Councilwoman Lehmann indicated that applicants should have a citywide perspective and be willing to commit at least 15 to 20 hours per month to DCCC. The workload peaks during the annual grant application review period, March through June.

The Denver County Cultural Council is comprised of eleven voting members. Three are ex-officio, representing citywide organizations, and eight are community representatives selected from interested applicants. The vacant position is for a three-year term, beginning October 1, 2008, renewable for an additional three years by mutual agreement. The appointment will be made by resolution of the Denver City Council.

Applicants must be:
a City and County of Denver resident;
at least 21 years of age;
not currently a board member or paid staff of any organization applying for Tier III funding; and
willing to disclose any conflict of interest.

Application forms are available by calling 303-860-0360 or at DenverGov.org. Completed applications should be sent to Gretchen Williams, Denver City Council, City & County Building, 1437 Bannock St., Room 451, Denver, CO 80202.
