International Mr. Gay Competition moves abroad

For the first time since it was founded in 2005, the International Mr. Gay (IMG) Competition moves from its Southern California base to the Philippines. Founder Don Spradlin announced that the IMG will now be produced in a different country every year to help spread the word that ‘gay is not a stereotype.’

Bright lights, red carpets, and photographers all around– that’s what’s in store for 20 sexy, intelligent, globally conscious, and physically fit men as they arrive in Manila to represent countries including France, India, Brazil and Russia in a 4-day competition to discover who will be named International Mr. Gay (IMG) 2009. Now in its Fourth year, the IMG Grand Finale & Awards Gala takes place over the weekend of May 30, 2009.

From brains to braun, the 2009 Delegates will be judged during indoor/outdoor contests and on-stage judge’s interviews at the Grand Finale. Rehearsals, photo shoots and fundraising events round out the weekend, which is a benefit for the Noble Beast Foundation.

The IMG is the longest running International Mr. Gay event series and is produced annually by the Noble Beast Foundation, a USA nonprofit 501(c)(3) which depends on donations to support the Foundation’s Mission www.NobleBeast.org. That mission is to “Advocate International Equal Rights by confirming the essential nature and contributions of gay men to a healthy society where gay is not a stereotype.”
