New developments in HIV/AIDS vaccine

The nearly 20-year effort to develop an AIDS vaccine could be closer to fruition, according to this article in the LA Times, with the discovery of antibodies that can stop the virus from reproducing itself in the body and causing severe disease.

Dr. Seth F. Berkley, president and chief executive of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, said, "This is opening up a whole new area of science."
