Bronco's victory give 5-0 start

Coming off a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Dallas, the Broncos found themselves in the same situation against Boston in Sunday's Legacy Game. A week after scoring 17 unanswered points to defeat the Cowboys, the Broncos reeled off 13 unanswered against the Patriots, en route to a 20-17 overtime victory at INVESCO Field at Mile High and a 5-0 start.

Boston quickly jumped out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead, via an 8-yard touchdown reception from Wes Welker and a 53-yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski. Welker's catch snapped the Broncos' four-game streak of not allowing a passing touchdown. Kyle Orton struck back in the second quarter, finding Brandon Marshall from 11 yards out to cut the deficit to 10-7. With just five ticks left on the clock in the half, the Patriots responded with a 7-yard touchdown connection between Tom Brady and tight end Benjamin Watson, taking a 17-7 lead into the locker room.

That turned out to be the last score for the Patriots on the afternoon. The Broncos defense clamped down in the second half, keeping the Patriots without a point on all six of their second half drives. Trailing 17-10 with four-and-a-half minutes left in the fourth quarter, Orton connected again with Marshall from 11 yards out, evening the two teams at 17-17. The catch was the exclamation point on a 12-play, 98-yard drive.

The game went to overtime, but after winning the coin toss, the Broncos offense made sure to put the game away. Orton marched his unit 58 yards down the field on 11 plays, capped by Matt Prater's game-winning 41-yard field goal.
