President Barack Obama favored overturning Proposition 8, but has not changed his mind about marriage equality, according to David Axelrod, a White House senior adviser.
"The president does oppose same-sex marriage, but he supports equality for gay and lesbian couples," Axelrod said. But Evan Wolfson of Freedom to Marry says it's "increasingly unclear" how Obama reconciles those two positions.
