The Defense Department said it will comply with a federal judge's order this week to stop discharging personnel under the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy while the federal government appeals the decision.
Still, the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, which opposes the military's ban on openly gay troops, urged caution. "It is clear there is confusion, and this interim period is dangerous for service members," said Aubrey Sarvis, SLDN's executive director.
