Two new lawsuits are set to be filed in federal court today challenging the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act. The Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders and the American Civil Liberties Union each plan to bring a suit to court on behalf of
legally married same-sex couples whose unions are not recognized under federal law. The U.S. Department of Justice is appealing a July federal court decision that found DOMA unconstitutional.
