Drew Wilson: Happy Birthday, Rockstar Aaron! What's your secret to looking young and beautiful?

Rockstar Aaron: I go to the best esthetician in Colorado, Skin Assist. I get chemical peels twice a month, and have a really good skin care routine. 

So young. So beautiful. So doomed.

What's your secret to feeling young and beautiful?

I listen to young and beautiful music like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, music keeps me feeling young and beautiful.

What do you want for your birthday?

I want everybody to come to Bar Standard. Not only is my birthday going to be the best night ever, but Fridays at Bar Standard is the best dance party in Denver. Plus you can’t beat the $1 drinks for Females.

Congrats on your recent Westword cover. How was that for you? It seems like you're everywhere these days. What is the secret to your 'overnight success' as a DJ and local celebrity?

I am not really a local celebrity, I am a recognizable person and I get paid to play other people’s music. 

I feel very fortunate that people still want me to DJ.  Behind the makeup and hair I am a fierce DJ and I am very confident at my skills as a DJ. I work very hard to provide quality entertainment to people.  I spend all my earnings reinvesting into marketing myself as a DJ.  I find it really boring to DJ to an empty room, I feel it’s important to market myself. 

I’d rather live in the smallest home in Denver and spend money in advertising than to DJ to an empty room.  I’d rather be dead than not be playing music to people every night.  I have a really great team behind me and support myself with some really wonderful people.

 
For those of us who don't know, what are your favorite/the hottest club nights in Denver these days? Where should Denver's gay guys be going to party? 
I love to go out. When I am not Dj’ing I make it a point to be out every night of the week.  I DJ a variety of club nights in Denver, if someone wants the neighborhood bar there’s the Horseshoe Lounge on Tuesdays, if someone wants a dance floor on Colfax there’s Rock Bar on Thursdays, if someone wants to hide from their ex and enjoy the best dance music there’s Bar Standard on Fridays, if you want to bring your out-of-town friends to a posh lounge on Saturdays there’s MiniBar. I play such a variety of places there’s something for anything.  I notice a lot of people frequent the same establishments week after week, yet they complain there’s nothing to do. If these creatures of habit would add a little variety to the mix they would have a better time. Support what you love.

You're a well-known fan of both Cyndi Lauper and Lady GaGa. Who do you think would win in a fight between the two?

Well Cyndi has a background in wrestling … I’m just saying.

Tell me a little bit about Lady Starlight and how you guys hooked up for your party.

I really wanted to Lady Starlight to DJ with me on NYE, but my NYE plans shifted and she’s been on tour with Lady Gaga this date was the only one that worked.  Lady Starlight is so animated during her DJ set.  Her DJ sets are so amazing.  I loved her at the Monster Ball last summer at Pepsi Center.  Some don’t realize it, but she is actually the one who named Lady Gaga. They are BFFs.

Why should we come party with you for your birthday?

This is going to be the party of the year. I can guarantee you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on Friday.
