Tax equity bill could benefit gay couples

Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., has introduced a bill in Congress that would erase the tax penalty for couples who take advantage of employer-provided health benefits for their same-sex partners. 

McDermott said the measure, which has both Democratic and Republican sponsors, could be considered as part of a larger tax bill.
