Anchorage vote in limbo after Election Day problems

Election returns suggest that an LGBT-rights ordinance known as Proposition 5 has failed. However, officials with One Anchorage, the campaign organization that fought to pass the ordinance, say they will not concede defeat until numerous irregularities reported on Election Day are investigated and resolved. Polling places ran out of ballots, leaving many who wished to vote unable to do so. Prop 5 opponents also issued messages urging their networks to vote regardless of whether they were registered, even though local law requires voters to register 30 days before participating in an election.
