Aspen Shortsfest accepting submissions

Aspen Film announced today the 22nd Annual Aspen Shortsfest is now accepting submissions of live-action, documentary and animated short film and video for the festival's International Competition, which will take place April 9-14, 2013.


The Aspen Shortsfest 2013 early submission deadline (with reduced entry fee) is October 12, 2012; the regular deadline is December 7, 2012; the late deadline is December 21, 2012 and the extended deadline is January 11, 2013.

Internationally known as a premier North American showcase for short film and video, Aspen Shortsfest annually welcomes over 50 filmmaker guests from all over the globe to participate in screenings, in-depth Q&A's, school education programs and special events. Nearly 3,300 short films from over 60 countries were considered in 2012, with 80 short films representing 30 countries ultimately selected.

Aspen Shortsfest's centerpiece, the Oscar®-qualifying International Competition features numerous premieres and reflects the rich diversity and creativity of today's short films. The jury of active film professionals awards cash prizes to winners across several categories including animation, comedy, drama, documentary, student and more. A platform for emerging talent, the festival spotlights films that subsequently receive critical recognition including recent Oscar® winners and nominees like Saving Face, Time Freak, Raju, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, God of Love, The Lost Thing, Miracle Fish, Kavi and Instead of Abracadabra.
