Eagle Scouts returns badges to protest anti-gay policy

Five Eagle Scouts have reportedly recently returned their badges to the Boy Scouts of America to protest the organization’s recent decision to reaffirm its longstanding policy banning openly gay members.

"There’s an incredible amount of work that goes into earning an Eagle Scout badge. It means more to me than my high school diploma," said Zach Walls, an Eagle Scout who was raised by two lesbian mothers. A BSA spokesman said the organization was “disappointed” by the return of the medals, but added that most members agree with its policy.
