Former co-owner of Pittsburgh Pirates comes out

Kevin McClatchy, board chairman of the McClatchy Company and one-time co-owner of Major League Baseball's Pittsburgh Pirates, has come out as gay in an interview with New York Times columnist Frank Bruni. McClatchy said hearing homophobic language in baseball led him to stay quiet about his own sexual orientation, but added that he’s now ready to help start a dialogue in the sport.
