This week marks the release of Oak Island, the sophomore album by Nightlands, aka Philadelphia-based Dave Hartley. Ten-songs about sadness and love, Oak Island is an album that stands on its own, shying away from obvious referential treatment. Throughout, distorted, silver-voiced melodies wrapped in the warm sounds of 70s AM gold combine to conjure those feelings that tide in and out of you when recalling the past.
