IGLTA Foundation Announces Building Bridges Scholarships Program for LGBT tourism

The IGLTA Foundation is now accepting applications for its new Building Bridges Scholarship, a program designed to support the next generation of LGBT tourism professionals.

Scholarships will fund five attendees for the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s 30th Annual Global Convention in Chicago, May 2-4, 2013. The conference is the premier networking event for the gay and lesbian travel industry.

This year’s Building Bridges Scholarship program will provide all-expense-paid trips to the convention for three hospitality/tourism students; one individual representing a destination or event that is committed to developing an LGBT following; and one individual representing a small business in the LGBT tourism sector that is in the process of starting sustainability or community engagement initiatives.

“The IGLTA Foundation is thrilled to support the aspirations of students and entrepreneurs who see the tourism industry as part of the global movement for LGBT equality,” says Travis Ferland, IGLTA Foundation Executive Director. “This is just one of many exciting initiatives that we are rolling out in 2013.”

The scholarship application deadline is Feb. 15. For complete details, please visit www.igltafoundation.org/scholarships.
