Sponsored by Andrew Christian, ID Lube, and TLAgay.com, the calendar, which runs from July 2013 through June 2014, showcases some of Los Angeles’ hottest gay men, along with some recognizable faces, all partaking in sexy, shocking and comical positions. Some of the men in the photos include Andrew Christian models such as Jeffrey Hawkins and Johnathan Myers, and gay adult stars like Tommy Defendi, Duncan Black and Andy Taylor. Rhea Litre, one of the city’s fiercest drag divas, and celebrity choreographer Jeremy Copeland are also featured heavily in the calendar.
In one photo, to mark the month of December, a naked Defendi is shown grabbing for his hidden present in a spoof of the Justin Timberlake-Andy Samberg “Dick in a Box” sketch, while a stunned Taylor peers inside. “I had such a blast working with Killian, as well as Tommy Defendi,” said Taylor. “They are both great guys and hilarious!”
“I’ve wanted to shoot a calendar for a while and Gay Angelenos gave me the perfect opportunity to do it,” said Wells, who also acted as the project’s art director. “I wanted to create sexy images with an element of humor that aren’t typically found in other gay calendars.”
“This calendar and all that it encompasses would never have come to fruition if not for Killian,” says Joshua Fanning, Gay Angelenos’ Founder. “He displayed such a high magnitude of professionalism, creative direction and fun.”
“When Killian told me about his calendar, I said yes to supporting it without hesitation,” said Erik Schut, Managing Director of powerhouse retailer TLAgay.com. “Once I saw stills and footage from it, I knew he’d have another hit on his hands.
“It’s been great watching Killian expand his artistry, and we at TLAgay.com are more than happy to champion his endeavors. Plus, he's such a damned workaholic nudge - I don't think we'd have a choice, anyway." Schut laughs.
A behind-the-scenes video promo shot by Wells, showing a string of slow motion clips from each shoot for the calendar, has been released on Wells’ YouTube channel (YouTube.com/KillianWells) to coincide with the launch of the calendar.
Each quarter, a portion of the calendar’s proceeds will go to benefit a different organization working to help the LGBT community in the Los Angeles area.
