Calif. Supreme Court will consider new Prop 8 challenge

The California Supreme Court has denied a request that it stop same-sex weddings, but it will hear arguments about whether the U.S. Supreme Court decision invalidating Proposition 8 applies only to the couples named in the federal lawsuit. Many legal experts doubt the California court will be swayed.

"Like a chicken with its head cut off, Proposition 8 is trying to act alive, even though it has no real chance of being revived," said Vikram Amar, a law professor at the University of California at Davis.
