ENDA advocate skeptical of interim executive order

Matt McTighe, a political strategist heading a $2 million campaign to push for Senate passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, last week expressed doubts regarding calls for the president to sign an executive order banning LGBT employment discrimination among federal contractors.

McTighe said the order would increase partisanship to the debate that could scuttle efforts to convince wavering lawmakers to support ENDA. A Human Rights Campaign representative said that both ENDA and an executive order are necessary.
