Obama opposes Winter Olympics boycott

President Barack Obama said last Friday he did not think the U.S. should boycott the Winter Olympics in Sochi to protest Russia's new anti-LGBT law. While reiterating his firm opposition to the Russian measures, Obama said that the Olympics would offer LGBT athletes an opportunity to lead by example.

"One of the things I'm really looking forward to is maybe some gay and lesbian athletes bringing home the gold or silver or bronze, which I think would go a long way in rejecting the kind of attitudes that we're seeing there," Obama said.
