Dance, Baby, Dance: Free Valentine's Day Family Dance Party at Shine

Friday, February 14, 2013 from 4:30-6:00pm, LOCAL Theater Company joins forces with Shine Restaurant & Gathering Place (2027 13th Street in Boulder) to host “Dance, Baby, Dance!” - a free, family-friendly dance party featuring DJ Savior Breath, costume pieces courtesy of performance group The Catamounts, percussive instruments for kids to borrow and a valentine-making station.

The party is one of thousands of events happening across the globe in observance of One Billion Rising, a call to action (as part of V-Day*) based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet are beaten or raped in their lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than one billion women.

*V-Day is the global activist movement founded by playwright Eve Ensler (“The Vagina Monologues”) to end violence against women and girls. Ensler and LOCAL Theater Company co-founder Pesha Rudnick worked together on the New York production of “Emotional Creature.” Ensler then came to Boulder in October of 2013 to speak at LOCAL’s “Body of Work” performance at eTown Hall. www.vday.org

“Dance, Baby, Dance” is free, open to all ages, and requires no reservations. Shine’s bar and kitchen will be open for Happy Hour. For Shine’s menu and directions to the venue, visit shineboulder.com. For more information on “Dance, Baby, Dance,” visit LOCALTheaterCompany.org.
