Poll finds record-high support for marriage equality

The majority of Americans support marriage equality and half believe the Constitution guarantees the right of same-sex couples to marry, according to a Washington Post/ABC News survey that reflected record-high support for marriage equality.

"Overwhelmingly, Americans –- no matter where they live, how old they are, or what party they belong to –- believe in treating their gay and lesbian family members and friends with dignity and respect by supporting their freedom to marry,” said Marc Solomon, national campaign director of Freedom to Marry. The survey also found that 81% of Americans oppose allowing businesses to refuse service to LGBT patrons.
