White House plans response to Uganda's anti-LGBT law

The State Department and other White House officials confirmed on Monday a series of immediate actions that the U.S. will take in response to Uganda's decision to threaten LGBT citizens with lifetime imprisonment. 

A statement from the National Security Council said that funds would be divested from the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, a group that has come out in support of the legislation that Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed last month. Additionally, funding will be shifted away from projects researching the spread of HIV/AIDS and initiatives to promote tourism in the country.
